South Gondar Zone
This zone is one of the thirteen zones in the Amhara National Regional Government. The capital of the zone is Debretabor and the zone is bordered by Gondar in the north-central, Gojam in the southeast, Wolo in the east, Gojam in the west and Lake Tana. The zone has an area of 14175.85 square kilometers, and of the total area, 56.1% is used for agriculture, 13.1% is used for grazing, 0.63% is covered with forest, 22.5% is usable and 7.4% is waste land. De/Tabor, the seat of the zone, is an ancient city located 666 km from Addis Ababa, 97 km from Bahardar and 136 km from the historical city of Gondar.
  Historical Tourism Resources in the Zone:
There are many historical attractions in Gondar zone, including:
1, Cave Andrias, where a wooden pool known as the dragon's milk offering, which was used for the implementation of the religious activities of the local community in ancient times, is found as a heritage evidence;
2, Tana Kirkos, the historic island in Lake Tana where Mary Joseph and Jesus Christ rested for three months and ten days;
3, St. Bethlehem, which was founded in the 4th century and is the only well-certified university;
4, Zur Amba Abune Agewi Monastery, which was founded by Emperor Gebre Meses in the 6th Mekze and is a testament to the foundation of singing;
5, Daka Kirkos, a historical place where the king of Zagwe, Emperor Yitbarek, deployed his army and fought with Emperor Yakuno God;
6, the configuration of the uniform rock configuration of the 12th dodecagon;
7, Amba, the prison where many kings were kept in exile;
8, Gafat, which was the industrial capital in the 1850s and where Emperor Tewdros built the cannon called Sevastopol, and
9, Sumernaha, where Emperor Yohannes IV built his palace and is located 1 km east of Gafat, are the main historical tourism resources of the zone.
   Natural tourism resources
1, the zone is home to wonderful and healing hot springs such as Wanzaye Hot Springs, Guramba, Gono Gabriel, Hyena and Ahya.
2, in another cave, religion, setla maryam caves, maryam and waftuma caves and bird cave, covenant mercy, etc. are the main ones.
3, Guna Mountain, Alem Saga Forest and Tower Monastery, Ambo Forest, Virgin Ffo Forest, etc. are the natural and man-made attractions of the zone.

Debub Gondar (or South Gondar) is a Zone in the Ethiopian Amhara Region. 

South Gondar is bordered on the south by East Gojjam, on the southwest by West Gojjam and Bahir Dar, on the west by Lake Tana, on the north by North Gondar, on the northeast by Wag Hemra, on the east by North Wollo, and on the southeast by South Wollo; the Abbay River separates South Gondar from the two Gojjam Zones.

The highest point in South Gondar is Mount Guna (4,231 meters). Towns and cities in this zone include Addis ZemenDebre Tabor and Wereta.
