The South Gondar Zone is one of the 12 zones in the ANRS, and the zone has an area of 14,298.73 square kilometers. It is bordered by East, North Wolo, West, West Gojam, Bahardar Special Zone and Tanahaik, North, Makalavi Gondar, South, South Wolo and Ms. Gojam AS/Zone. . The zone is divided into 13 rural districts and 8 urban administrations, as well as 360 rural districts and 45 urban districts. Based on the results of the 1999 population census, the population of the zone in 2015 is 1,347,475 males and 1,338,182 females. The total is estimated to be 2,685,657, of which 1,137,031 people live in rural areas, 1,106,054 people live in urban areas, 2,243,085 people live in urban areas, and 210,443 people live in urban areas. It is estimated that there will be more than 60,062,584 people. It is possible to say with certainty that the population of our zone will be higher than what was estimated in the coming years and at the end of the planning period.

Debub Gondar (or South Gondar) is a Zone in the Ethiopian Amhara Region. 

South Gondar is bordered on the south by East Gojjam, on the southwest by West Gojjam and Bahir Dar, on the west by Lake Tana, on the north by North Gondar, on the northeast by Wag Hemra, on the east by North Wollo, and on the southeast by South Wollo; the Abbay River separates South Gondar from the two Gojjam Zones.

The highest point in South Gondar is Mount Guna (4,231 meters). Towns and cities in this zone include Addis ZemenDebre Tabor and Wereta.
